How we work with schoolsWe work with schools in two ways:
1) We are approached by a solar or wind farm which would like to invite schools to visit their site to learn about renewable power. This could be a one off visit or part of a long term relationship the site will develop with a school. 2) Schools can contact us directly requesting a workshop or with help to facilitate a visit to a solar or wind farm |
We provide |
Fully qualified workshop leaders
Thorough risk assessments Occasionally funding (through the solar farm) is available to pay for transport and the costs of the workshop National Curriculum links and planning documents with suggested pre and follow up activities |

“The children were totally engrossed during the classroom activities and loved the visit to their local solar farm. The wide range of resources and activities gave us a great introduction to many of the curriculum requirements.” Teacher Anthony Down, Jacobstow Community Primary
“A fantastic opportunity for class 4 children to see 15,000 solar panel modules and talk about how much electricity is being generated at Park Farm Solar Farm. The children enjoyed a different learning approach to their ‘Growing’ topic working with the local environment. Very much appreciated. Thank you.” Jo Rutledge, Year 4 Class Teacher, St Charles Primary “Thank you so much for organising our recent school based workshop and visit to the Newnham Solar Farm. It was a great day, with many exciting learning opportunities for our KS2 class. Our Y6 boys particularly enjoyed building solar panelled circuits to power mini- fans, lightbulbs and moving toys! The bug hunt was a hit with everyone and the children have collated their findings and graphed them, ready to send to your biodiversity team! It was lovely to see the development of the site since our first visit and for the children to have the opportunity to ask further questions about the future development plans of the Solar Farm..” Lisa Clemo, KS2 Class Teacher, Shaugh Prior Primary “It was well thought through, fully resourced, interactive, engaging and topical. Plus, they left loads of super planning resources for the next steps which easily linked to literacy, science, geography and maths.” Tim Hughes, Head Teacher, Abbotskerswell Primary ''they had gained a great deal of knowledge about solar energy and were very keen to get involved with eco club next term and continue their learning. I really think that what the children have learnt from this experience is of huge importance in terms of giving them an understanding of energy sources and the future of energy. It was also a good way of teaching them about planning permission and the fact that you can't just do what you want and that public opinion has a part to play. I hope we can do further work with you in the near future.” Mrs Pippa Gerett, Head Teacher, Hayeswood First School |
